Holly may not be a collie, but our rescue came across her at a shelter in southwestern Virginia and we couldn't leave her behind. She is a very sweet, gentle girl who likes to be low-key and low-maintenance. We think she is 3 to 5 years old and we believe she is a pointer and hound mix but mostly hound. We have seen her go into a classic pointer position upon seeing deer, bunnies, and birds, and hearing the neighborhood owl. Holly enjoys snoozing, exploring the yard, eating, and running like the wind at the dog park. She loves going on walks, with her tail is in constant motion as her nose sweeps back and forth as she gets to know the lay of the land. We are teaching her how to walk on a leash without having to sniff everything in her sight. She does really well meeting new people and other dogs, and doesn't get overly excited or wound up. We think she would do best in a home where she is not left alone for long periods of time. She doesn't know formal commands yet, but she will come when called with a whistle. She is housebroken and crate-trained. In between walks, she is content snoozing in her crate or in sunny spots in the backyard. Holly is a really sweet girl, and we hope we can find her a happy home.
