About Lou

Adoption Fee: $180
Rottweiler / Redbone Coonhound
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Poor Lou needs a loving home where he can feel and be safe. In a strange tale of neighbors gone crazy, Lou was going to be euthanized to prevent him from being killed by his terrible neighbor. Makes no sense to us either! We just know that Lou was going to lose his life in this terrible battle! Luckily the vets' office couldn't put a healthy and sweet dog down. They called us to see if we could rehome him. Say no more! Of course we'll help. Lou arrived at our shelter on January 28, 2020. Lou is a wonderful dog. He's a five year old Rottweiler/Hound mix. He is 83 pounds of pure love. Lou has the body of a Rotti, but sports a gorgeous red coat. His eyes are so earnest. They show the worry that he feels at being homeless and in an unfamiliar place. Lou is sight-impaired, but not completely blind. He'll need a containment fence to ensure he remains safe and his new family will need to introduce him to his surroundings with patience. Lou is trying hard to adapt to the strangeness of the shelter. He's scared and timid. Since he can't see you that well, he follows his ears listening to the sounds around him as he tries to adjust to where he is. We're slowly showing him around and getting him used to his kennel and his exercise yard, making sure we keep him to a consistent routine. Our greatest hope is that he finds his forever family soon so he can begin to relax again. Lou travels well in a car. He's strong on a leash. He follows his nose and wherever it goes so does Lou and his handler. He's sweet with everyone he meets. Lou is house-trained and has wonderful manners. We don't yet know how Lou does with dogs or cats and will test for potential adopters. If you're looking for a calm and loyal companion, come meet our Lou. He's a terrific dog who just needs a warm and welcoming home to make him feel safe and loved. Lou is fully vetted, neutered and micro-chipped.
