Adoption Fee: $275
Bloodhound / Lab
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Pal's Place would love to introduce you to Red, a gorgeous, 5 -year-old, a 95-pound male Lab mix, possibly with Bloodhound or another large hound breed. This sweet and handsome fellow has unfortunately been adopted and returned to us for placement twice now. We are really hoping Red's next guardians will commit to him and finally provide him the forever home he so desperately wants and deserves. Red was initially placed in 2016 when he was about 8 months old with a young couple. He lived with a toddler whom he got along with but when the family welcomed another child into the home it become increasingly clear that Red was uncomfortable and nervous around very young children and a second child in the home seemed to be too much for him. The decision was tearfully made that he would be happiest in a home without small children so he was returned to us for placement. Red was then again placed in a home we thought would be his forever but after 2 years in his second home, changes to his adopter's living situation left them feeling like they could no longer provide Red with the care and structure he needs. He is a very sensitive and loving dog that will make a great companion for a quiet, adult-only household. His previous adopters describe him as an 'old soul' and that seems to suit him perfectly. He prefers a slower-paced life and likes to sit back, observe and take in everything all around him. He loves to go for walks and to explore but in the home, he's mellow and well behaved and loves nothing more than cuddling up close to his favorite people. Being a hound mix, Red can be ornery at times and while very intelligent, he is not going to win any obedience competitions any time soon. If you are looking for a dog that will listen to every command you give him and that will always do what you ask him to do when you ask him to do it, Red is not the dog for you. If you appreciate a dog with lots of character and charm with some unique and comical quirks, a dog that can think for itself, then Red might be your guy! He can also be a bit sensitive and grumpy about his nails being clipped/ears being cleaned, so those duties are best left to professional groomers or taken care of during his vet visits. Red is currently being fostered with multiple other dogs and lived with another dog in his previous home. He tolerates their company but seems to be much more of a people dog. He'd probably enjoy being the only dog in the home. Red with his soulful eyes and gentle demeanor will make someone a remarkable companion, come and meet him today! He is currently in a foster home and can be seen by appointment once an application has been completed and approved.
