About Samson

Silky Terrier
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

1/28/20 - Update from Samson's foster mom: My name is Samson but my foster parents like to call me Sammy. I am about 10 years old. I would love to tell you a little bit about myself and some of my favorite things to do! For the past year I have been living in a foster home with multiple dogs and I get along fine with them. It did take them a while to understand why I always run into things sine I am actually effectively blind in both eyes. I am able to see shadows when I am in a well-lit room but other than that I cannot see. I do require some patience when it comes to living with me. I am able to memorize the lay out of my home but at times when my people move things around, I will run into them. I do not like change very much but can deal with it on some occasions. Most of the time I run into things when I get excited. Especially when I am about to be fed! Did I mention that I love food! Sometimes I try to get into the garbage when my foster parents are not looking, but recently they put this lock thing on it so I can't get in there. Darn! One of my favorite things to do is go on walks. It might sound a little weird because I am blind, but a walk on a sunny day is one of my favorite things to do. As long as I can stay by your side and walk with you, I will have great time. Because I am older, I am not able to run. A nice walk around the neighborhood is all I need in the exercise department. Another thing I enjoy doing is playing with other dogs. As I mentioned earlier, I do live with other dogs and I am able to get along with them well. They just have to learn that I may get in their space at times. But besides that, I love other dogs. As long as the dog is friendly and patient, we will be best friends, although it may take me a few months to get to know them. As I am blind, I can have trust issues, even with my foster parents. I can become grumpy when you pick me up or start touching my face. This can make me very confused and stressed. Because of this, I will do better in a home with older children as right now I live with a 17-year-old and her parents. The teenager is very nice to me and does not pull my tail. Over all, I am a very relaxed and easy-going dog who does not require a lot of work as long as you feed me and give me love and attention. If you are interested in adopting me, please email [email protected] to request an application or come and meet me at an event. I am usually there and my people will also be there to answer any of your questions. Woof! Samson - 11 year old male Silky Terrier, about 15 pounds. Samson loves to be with his people . He has bilateral cataracts and his eye sight is not good; effectively blind. He has learned the layout of our home well. Not a fan of the crate but will tolerate it. Very much loves your lap. He loves to snuggle and be loved on once he gets to know you. Samson does have trouble running into things but he will find his way around the house easily. He also gets along well with our 2 dogs. Good with dogs, kids and cats. Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older, and always before being placed in their new homes. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at [email protected] or click on the CONTACT link on this page. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. If you live within a five-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
