About Kimber

Adoption Fee: $150
Redbone Coonhound / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Kimber is a 3.5 year old female born 8/18/16. She is 3/4 Redbone and 1/4 lab. I have owned her since 8 weeks old and she has been a wonderful dog. However, she does not get along with our other female dog and they need to be constantly separated due to dominance issues. She also likes to have her own space so young children are not an option to be around her; older teenagers who understand space would be okay. I do not feel that we are the right house for her anymore and it breaks my heart. Kimber is not a hunter; she will bay at animals but does not kill them. Kimber is required to have a fenced in yard. 4 foot fence would work fine, but a privacy fence would be better so that she cannot see everything and bay at everyone or other animals. Kimber does like to run around the yard, chew on marrow bones and sticks, and sunbathe when outside. She is not a fan of pools or bodies of water, but will get in the tub for a bath or to get her feet rinsed off from mud. Kimber's favorite things to do are nap on the couch and snore loudly, steal your spot in bed or on the couch, and she will cozy up to you at night to go to sleep. I should mention she is not a morning person and has to be coaxed out of bed. When home alone, Kimber does require a kennel (which will come with her) due to her becoming mad you did not take her with you and she will chew on things. She can be a diva. She loves meeting new people and getting ear scratches. She may also be obsessed with pizza. Kimber does walk on a leash, however, due to the excitement she has, she will pull very hard. When it comes to nail trimmings, she has never had a bad experience, but she hates the sounds of the trimmers so it does require a professional. Kimber has been nice to children that she has been around. However, she does not realize that she is in fact 100 lbs instead of the size of a Chihuahua and becomes overly excited when new people come in the house. She also has moments once the excitement wears off that she needs her own space and quietness or want to nap and then she will do a warning growl and walk away from children. In the safety of younger children, she will not be rehomed to anyone who has children younger than 15. Kimber will also not be going to a home that has other dogs. Kimber is a wonderful sweet girl who loves to cuddle and get attention from everyone around her. I feel that she deserves the best possible home and due to this I will not rehome her to just anyone.
