About Ellie Mae

Black and Tan Coonhound mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Ellie Mae Age: 6 months / Female Current Weight 24#'s Black & Tan Coonhound Potty and leash trained Meet sweet and cuddly Ellie Mae!! AKA-The girl with the long floppy ears. This little girl was found wondering the streets all alone in TN. Ellie was brought to the local shelter in hopes her family would come looking for her but they never did. Safe Haven brought Ellie Mae up to IL in hopes of finding her a forever family. This smart girl is already leash and potty trained! Ellie Mae is bell trained to let you know she has to go outside to do her business. This sweet girl has one of the most easy going personalities in a hound I have ever met. A few of Ellie's favorite things are; people, snuggles, dogs of any size, car rides and treats. Even though Ellie has a very sweet personality she could still benefit from some basic training. Ellie Mae is easily motivated by food, which will make training much easier. Ellie Mae enjoys the company of people. She can be extremely affectionate, and given the opportunity will crawl in your lap to cuddle. Ellie Mae is not crate trained but rather enjoys the company of her family at bedtime. She is content to sleep on her own bed next to her human fosters. During her time with us she has not had any potty accidents and has been left overnight up to 8 hours. Ellie Mae is currently on a special eating plan to help her gain some much needed weight. Although she has been given a clean bill of health by our vet she has some catching up to do in order to get her back to her ideal weight. If you feel this one of a kind puppy would make a great addition to your family contact Safe Haven today for your meet and greet! Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies. Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a 'teen' or adult dog. Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email [email protected] for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
