SAY HELLO TO MONKEY ! Monkey is a handsome 8 year old brindle coated Shih Tzu / Lhasa Apso mix boy, Weighing in at 14 pounds, Monkey truly is a bright boy. Monkey is an adorable, smoosh faced little boy with a quirky personality. He was surrendered to our rescue from another rescue about 8 months ago. They had adopted him out and he was returned after he bit someone and they felt he should be euthanized since they did not find him a good candidate for adoption. Monkey doesn't bite for no reason. When he came to us he could not tolerate people touching his face. We have worked with him extensively and he has improved significantly. He now allows us to do almost anything with his face but he does need to develop some trust in order for that to happen with new people. He is sometimes 'growly' when he is picked up but has never offered to bite while being picked up. He is EXCELLENT on the leash and we have been working on basic obedience with him on the leash and he is a quick study! He is so smart! He will make a great pet for someone who understands his trust issues and respects his boundaries initially. He is not a dog who likes to be coddled and doted on physically although with time and trust, even that could change. Monkey needs someone to give him a chance. He has proven himself here and we know he can be a wonderful, fun, funny, companion to in many ways - a cute funny, comical, grumpy dog ! Monkey's ideal family will be adults only who are experienced adopters as well as familiar with the Lhasa Apso breed. He will need a family that will continue working with his house training using gentle kindness and patience as he adjusts to his new family. He is good with most dogs but tends to avoid them. We think he would do fine as an only dog or with a female of like size and with an easy going personality. Monkey is a longer coated breed that will require regular brushing as well as professional grooming every 6 to 8 weeks. Monkeys's adoption fee is $ 375.00 This fee includes his Veterinarian Wellness checks while here at the rescue, his neuter, all vaccinations including rabies and bordatella, de-worming, a pre-adoption professional groom and a microchip with lifetime membership. Monkey will also have a new collar and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality grain free kibble that he has been eating. His adoption fee also allows us the ability to put funds towards the next little one in need of rescue!
