About Louie-PENDING!

When Louie's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal New Mexico shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and sad) Louie tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Chiweeny is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Louie became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. At just 10 months old and 13 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Louie to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size and temperament to accompany his family just about anywhere small dogs are allowed...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience classes will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Louie and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success! Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement/force free trainers in your area. Louie gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy initially) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching...To us though, he's just an adorable, super-sweet and fun little guy that's irresistible! When Louie turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes that hold wisdom beyond his years), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Louie's style. It's clear that he is successfully working on leaving any past pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for a very present family for Louie. We feel that this social guy is too sensitive to spend long days alone while his family works full-time outside of the home. Active retirees would be perfect in the time-spent and attention they're able to give to their dogs. A younger family that either works from home or part time would also be great for this sweet guy. Once bonded, Louie will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Louie would enjoy time and fun with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're only 13 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by larger, rambunctious dogs. . Louie is an extremely beautiful dog with a shining black coat and mesmerizing eyes. Since he's left the shelter following his rescue, Louie's eyes shine so brightly. He's so grateful being out of his prison that there's almost a smile on his beautiful face. Treats, hugs and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. Louie's foster mom is very happy to report that he is blossoming more each day. She has fallen hard for Louie and thinks he's just about perfect. She's very clear that Louie will be a very sweet and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a regular part of his life. We've requested that Louie be neutered/microchipped prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Louie's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. Louie will be arriving on transport in Denver in early February (we'll update once date is confirmed).
