About Sushi-ADOPTION PENDING

Shih Tzu / Poodle
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Sushi is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in these sad shelter photos is how truly beautiful this dog is with his stunning beige coat with shades of black and browns running through it. Once this gorgeous guy gets a sudsy bath and brushing ...he will absolutely be one of the most adorable guys around. At just about 2 years old (such a perfect age..old enough to be past babyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many healthy and active years remaining) and a petite 15 lbs, Sushi is the perfect size for long walks, lap sitting and at day's end, cuddling close to his family members. Sushi is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time he is a happy and well-behaved pup (once he's used to his environment) who is so sweet, very loving and a perfect full-time companion. Sushi is very likely to express himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses of love for those who are kind to him. Sushi is by nature a very happy-go-lucky guy once he feels comfortable in his environment. It's understandable that he's just a bit insecure right now...Sushi was abandoned by his person at a grooming salon. Many hours after he was dropped off for grooming...and after phone calls, text messages and emails, it began to sink in that this wonderful guy's person gave a fake phone number and had no intention of returning to pick Sushi up. Luck was with him that day that a rescuer was at the salon. She had compassion for this little guy who was waiting patiently for a guardian that would never come. She took Sushi home, nurtured his body and soul..and made arrangements for him to be transported to a wonderful new life in Colorado. At this early point in Sushi's development, he loves almost everyone..be it human or smaller canines. Sushi is intimidated by larger dogs and they therefore wouldn't be a match for this little guy. We want to nurture Sushi's positive vision of the world by matching this very sweet guy to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Sushi to attend positive reinforcement/force free group obedience classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. These classes create feelings of respect between dog and family resulting in a dog that responds to his people as his leaders. We feel so strongly about the importance of these classes that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't choose to give Sushi this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force-free trainers in your area. Farfel's Rescue feels that Sushi will be most comfortable with either dog-crazy, active retirees or a younger family that works from home or just part-time. He is too sensitive a guy (and loves his family like crazy) to be left alone for long full-time work hours. Right now, Sushi is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Sushi is so loyal that he can easily be a constant companion. He would love nothing more than being outdoors on neighborhood walks or beautiful hikes with time spent socializing with others along the way. Trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace is perfect for Sushi's personality. Sushi is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance, he can succeed. Sushi has the stunning coat and cottony-soft non-shedding hair that speaks of his breed. He will therefore require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths/brushing, grooming and great nutrition (a daily supplement of salmon oil would be excellent for coat care and longevity) to keep his hair cottony-soft, very healthy and matt-free. We're requested that Sushi be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. If it does not, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for his neuter and microchip following his arrival on transport if one of our Colorado rescue vets is used. Sushi will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/1/20. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, loving and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Sushi, please be sure to submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Applications other than our Farfel's app don't provide enough information for us to determine a match and therefore aren't useful for our purposes. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our completed Farfel's Rescue application.
