About Oscar

Oscar is a small, loving and cuddly little Chihuahua- who is about 3-4 years old and weights around 9 lbs. He was found as a stray and brought to animal control in Griffin and this is where he managed to charm his way to Pregnant dog rescue. Oscar may bark at you at first, but give him just a few minutes and he isn't just your best friend. He adores you. He wants to be on your lap all the time. He wants to get under the covers with you and snuggle into your neck. He would bring tennis balls to you and place it into your hand. With his foster family he goes kayaking, hiking and shopping , not because he is found of these activities (as a matter of fact, he doesn't care much for outdoors), but because he doesn't mind any pastime as long as he is around his people, preferably on them. Oscar would make a wonderful companion for somebody who isn't too active , such as people with disabilities, who need a cuddle bug to sit on their lap. He is fine with other animals (the foster home has another three dogs and two cats,), but what he really wants is a human to love. Oscar is quiet, he would easily sleep all day long or play some, whatever you prefer. Our vet has examined Oscar and told us that this little guy had it rough: most probably he was hit by his previous owners judging by how he flinches when he sees a raised arm. He wasn't well taken care of either: he was diagnosed with a dry eye condition that was severely neglected. Oscar would need eye-drops all his life, which is pretty easy to give because Oscar doesn't make any fuss about this procedure. Oscar may be scared of people at first, because of all this, but once he knows you he loves you with all his heart. Oscar is housebroken, not fussy about his food and can be really funny: he absolutely loves raw broccoli and cauliflower, he dances for food if asked and if you pat him the right way he would close his eyes have the word 'pleasure' written all over his little face. Due to Oscar's small size we wouldn't be comfortable placing Oscar in a family with small children (he is fine with older kids). He also can be a little protective towards the person who is holding him at the moment. He would be ideal for an older person who needs a close devoted companion, calm and loving.
