About Jimmy

Boxer mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

This is a courtesy post for Salem Animal Rescue League. (Salem, NH). Please contact Fiona at [email protected] and/or Mary Lou at [email protected] Jimmy is a 3-4 year old Boxer mix who needs ACL surgery. The surgery will be performed through the rescue, but not until Jimmy has a foster to help him heal. Like many pups that end up in the shelter, Jimmy has not had the easiest journey and it's apparent that he suffered trauma as a youngster. He was about a year old when SARL brought him up from a shelter in Florida. He has quite a large scar on his left rear leg, and the area on the top of his neck is thickened, like scar tissue buildup from an old injury. Jimmy is a really sweet dog with expressive eyes who loves his toys. He was adopted but then returned due to a death in the family, and sadly adopted again but returned again. His life has been one disappointed after another through no fault of his own. He's so very stressed in a shelter which affects his overall well-being and he's struggling to be his best self. When volunteers take him for rides, he often falls asleep sitting up (see the included pic). As cute as this is, it actually shows how the severe stress is utterly exhausting. Jimmy needs a foster for 4-5 months post-surgery for recovery and then he can be adopted. Because his recovery will include lots of resting, your home should be dog-free or have the ability to keep pups separate so Jimmy is not tempted to jump and play reindeer games with other canine companions. Stressed dogs in shelters don't fare well for adoption. Dogs with medical needs further reduce his options. To be Jimmy's hero, please contact Mary Lou at [email protected]
