About Suki

Pit Bull mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Suki needs URGENT placement into a forever home or foster-to-adopt. She needs an everyday hero to be an extension of the rescue process and be her new foundation. She has a temporary foster in Gloucester MA, but just for two weeks before her foster family is traveling. Suki had a home - this 60-pound, 2-year old, mixed breed had a mom, toys, cats and other dogs too. Her mom was tragically killed in a car accident and an entire household, Suki included, were dispersed amongst many homes and her life and all that she knew, was gone. Suki had an unsuccessful placement in her first attempt to adopt. She was integrated into a house without proper intros to resident dogs and when Suki decided to join her new siblings on the human's bed, the 2 resident dogs defended their space and Suki not only lost her spot on the bed, but was returned to her vacant house, now empty of her family and all her things. Suki stayed by herself before being surrendered to a NH shelter. Upon intake, Suki was terrified. It took weeks of decompression for shelter staff and volunteers to work with her. Though she made huge strides, meeting too many new people was hard for Suki and she was languishing. Rescue Inc was asked to help because Suki was truly out of options. When we met Suki (and thank you to Tanja of Mind Your Manners for making the trek with us!), she met us with full body wags - and we instantly knew how open this girl's heart is to wanting a human of her own again. She transitioned into foster well and we have learned that Suki loves affection and is an excellent giver of kisses, is goofy and silly and loves to play. She has a favorite toy with her from the shelter, and loves her new rope toy, too. She also would love to chase after a ball. She enjoys a kong to chill and does know the basics, she simply needs some reminders and polishing of those skills. Her next dog savvy foster-to-adopt or forever home needs to provide the following for Suki to have successful placement: %BD' Be dog savvy to read Suki's body language and know when she needs an extra few minutes to be comfortable during a transition or meeting a new person - helping Suki feel safe + secure is a priority %BD' Kids that are older (teens) that are keen enough to help Suki transition too %BD' Suki will LOVE a yard to play in %BD' She can be your one and only or could live with another pup, but only with slow and proper introductions since her recent experiences with other pups have been negative Be Suki's everyday hero and her forever by emailing us at [email protected]
