About Gypsy

Gypsy is an 8-year-old Japanese Chin who came to us from a breeder. After losing all but one pup from her last litter, it was time for Gypsy to have a life of her own. Gypsy is a small girl at only 8 pounds, but with time (and her hearty appetite) she may settle in at a healthy 10lbs. She prefers soft food and loves deli meat. Gypsy eats like a champ now that she is feeling better and has had a dental. Treats have been the key to earning her trust. Gypsy came to us in pretty sad shape. Her health issues are all fixed. It's taking her a bit of time to heal and move on from her past. Gypsy is sweet and shy. She takes a while to navigate her surroundings and will shy away at first, but after some deli meat persuasion, TLC, and patience she will follow you around, tail wagging, and cuddle up with you for hours. Gypsy has come a long way in just a short time in her foster home. She has learned to go up steps (still not coordinated going down them yet), uses potty pads, has started eating on a regular schedule, and is exploring more of her surroundings each day. Gypsy has some indications that she doesn't see the best, her eyes are dry and she gets eye drops twice a day. The ideal home for Gypsy would have few steps for her to navigate and a fenced in yard. Gypsy doesn't have any experience on a leash. She would do best with another dog in her home and does fine with cats. Because Gypsy is small, her forever home should not have large dogs or children under 10 years old. She would really enjoy a quiet home without a lot of chaos. Gypsy is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested and microchipped.
