About Champ

Poodle
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Champ is ready to find his forever home! Back in November we posted on here about little Champ. One of our foster moms was at the shelter and met Champ and his mommy. She was there to surrender him because she could no longer take care of him. Our foster mom tried to help her figure a way to keep him because she obviously loved him so much. She offered the bags of food she had just purchased for her own dogs. She offered to help with medical care. The woman turned it all down because she felt that Champ needed to be in a home that could care for him in a way she just wasn't able to. So, our foster mom took Champ and made her the promise we would do that. Champ has been living in foster care with our rescue since that day. He had a few medical issues and we addressed those. He came to us nervous and scared. He has since come out of his shell a lot. He loves people. He wags his tail to greet them. He's a very happy little guy. He loves being petted especially on his head and above his tail. He LOVES being held and snuggled with. He loves going for walks on his leash and he loves exploring. Champ, being older and slightly vision impaired, would do best in a low energy home. He is very happy jumping up on the couch and snuggling for hours. He gets very excited when he realizes he's getting ready to go for a walk. He is a good car rider, never whines. He LOVES to eat. He does need to be on a soft food diet. He rolls over for belly rubs. He also seems to be a little hearing impaired but not deaf. His foster mom says she can call him and he doesn't always acknowledge her but if it is a loud noise he does react. He has no problem jumping up on the couch or going up and down stairs. Champ has come a long ways since that day we brought him into our rescue. We've kept our word and got him medically taken care of and now we just need to find him that forever loving home. He does have a heart murmur and has to take medication for that. He would do best in a home where he is the only dog. He isn't crazy about the foster mom's other dog but tolerates him. When on walks he seems to do fine around other dogs. He just doesn't like sharing his human. Champ is around 10 years old. If you are interested in giving little Champ that loving and forever home please email [email protected] for an application. He needs to go to a low energy home. No small children. Preferably as an only dog or maybe a home that has another older dog that is laid back.
