About Buddy

Adoption Fee: $100
Corgi / German Shepherd
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Senior dog looking for a home! Poor Buddy is three times unlucky now. It's nothing that he's done, it's that people think when the going gets tough it's okay for Buddy to get going. It's with tears in our eyes and a heavy heart that we are reposting this sweet senior dog%BD'%BD|again. Our greatest wish has been to find Buddy a FOREVER home. We've failed Buddy, but we are not giving up. Buddy doesn't have many years left and he deserves a place to call home with people who will love him and all he has to offer. Buddy just wants to matter to someone, again. Unfortunately, with this latest turn of events, Buddy is feeling terribly defeated. It's partly our fault, our vetting process goes well, but we've fallen for the sincerity of people when they tell us they will love Buddy for the rest of his life. Words have been cheap for Buddy and he's suffering for it. We're sorry, Buddy! We hope to make this right. You see, Buddy for about 10 years was a much loved dog. He and his original owner were inseparable, until his human's health forced him to surrender Buddy to our care in June 2019. The separation was heartbreaking for both. Then Buddy's journey became less secure. One couple returned Buddy due to the couple's insurmountable health issues (understandable) and most recently because Buddy became best buddies with the wife and not the husband. So rather than build a relationship with Buddy off Buddy goes to the shelter (that he hates so much.) Buddy doesn't understand what happened and he's suffering for it. It breaks our hearts. Buddy doesn't deserve this. By all admissions Buddy is just about the most perfect dog you'll meet. Buddy is a senior dog at almost 11 years, but he's healthy and has good energy. He's thought to be a German Shepherd/Corgi mix, which gives him his compact, solid and definitely unique physique. Buddy weighs 49 lbs. Despite the uncertainty going on in his life, Buddy gamely jumps in to new situations and his personality shines. Buddy is friendly, cuddly, and super sweet. He's house-trained and he walks well on leash. Buddy loves to travel and willingly goes everywhere. Buddy likes to be with his owners and is a most awesome companion. A family that includes Buddy in all they do would be ideal for him. After being let down so many times, Buddy is a bit clingy, afraid that those he loves will abandon him. Seeing that they have, it's understandable. Volunteers and staff are trying to make Buddy's transition back to the shelter bearable and they gush over him as the most adorable dog they've seen. Buddy doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He loves and greets everyone he meets with a wag of his tail and eager eyes. Buddy does well with other dogs. He also does well with cats. If you're looking for a dream dog to welcome to your family - a senior dog who just wants to live out his years in love and give love in return, come meet our Buddy. You'll be glad you did. Buddy is neutered, fully vetted and microchipped. Call 706-865-4135 for information on additional health services provided as part of the adoption fee.
