About Hank

Do you hear that? It's me calling out to my forever family! My name is Hank, but around here they call me Honk! I'm your typical hound dog; a treeing walker coonhound mix, in fact. Go ahead, look it up! I am 5 years old, weigh about 80 pounds, and located in Manchester, NH. I am a lot of puppy, but that means more fun, more love, and more laughs. I was surrendered to the shelter because small children make me nervous. So no kids for me thanks! I am a very active boy. If you are looking for a running partner or a hiking buddy, I'm your dude! My idea of fun is trailing a good scent in the great outdoors and chasing the occasional squirrel. Okay, it's more than the 'occasional' squirrel, but that's the hound in me! I am an excellent co-pilot too! I love a good car ride. I can't wait to stick my head out the window and let my ears fly! Bring on the adventure! Exercise is important but I do enjoy a good cuddle too. It is imperative my new home has a spot for me on the couch. Couches are best for napping in my opinion, or a king-size bed. I'll take either one. I am super affectionate and I don't enjoy being alone for too long. I need to be part of the family, that's where I belong! I have been playing with some of the other dogs here at the shelter and they are so much fun! I am still learning my own strength and proper playtime etiquette though. I could live with another dog but nothing too energetic, I am looking for a friendly passive pup that I can spend my days with. Feline friends, on the other hand, are a no-go for me. I forget cats are friends, not toys! I'm just looking for a home that I will be comfortable in, a place I can grow and learn to be the dog I am meant to be! My adopters should be patient with me when I am unsure or lack confidence. It can take me a little to settle into new situations, but I will get there! It wouldn't hurt to have knowledge of hound breeds and all that encompasses. I am a very vocal dog and there's no way around that. Apartment living isn't ideal for me, or your neighbors. :-) I would really love a yard to run around in too! Children in the home need to be 15 or older. Are you a diehard hound lover?
