About Golden

Adoption Fee: $375
Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Our magnificent Golden has the bouyant good nature that attracts Bully breed folks to these lovable high energy scamps. No other dog group has been so overbred, mishandled and maligned as the Bullies, and we are thrilled to have Golden with us, at this young stage of his life, so that we can find his forever home. Three years old, Golden started off his rescue journey as a statistic: just one more homeless stray roaming the city streets. He was picked up as a stray and brought to NYC ACC. He has navigated the rescue process with ease, and has displayed great confidence and panache as he has interacted with everyone along the way. His behavior evaluations were positive, and he was transferred to us so that we could fine tune his training and find his forever home. Golden joined us last spring, and quickly became one of our training superstars. He appears to be largely American Pitbull Terrier, and embodies the best characteristics of this noble breed. He is a large strong dog at 65 pounds, with a lean, muscular physique, stand up ears, and a handsome blond coat. Golden truly represents the best of beauty and temperament in the APBT breed. Golden would be a fantastic choice for a seasoned Bully breed lover, who is willing to continue the exercise and obedience regimen that has fostered such great behavior so far. Golden is high energy, and needs vigorous exercise. He had a blast last summer. Between hiking in the woods and swimming, we managed to tire him out! Golden is getting a little antsy during the cold winter days, because he loves to be on the go: the more action, the better. A bored, frustrated Bully will make mischief, to be sure, but in the hands of dedicated breed enthusiasts, who rejoice in their high energy companions, Bullies are Man's devoted BFFs. Golden is an ideal choice for an active single or couple: he is extremely friendly, and good with strangers, but he would likely overpower young toddlers. We haven't had him around cats, but he would likely chase them beyond their comfort level. He seems comfortable with other dogs matched to him for size and energy level. Golden has excelled at his obedience training and is extremely food motivated. He responds well to positive reinforcement training, and has learned all of his commands, so that adopters will be able to get up to speed with him quickly. He has great house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters will need to forgive the occasional accident that might occur as Golden transitions to a new potty routine, in a new home. Golden has been neutered and is current on routine vaccinations and health screenings. He has been dewormed and microchipped.
