About Homer

Who wants an old, blind beagle? His owner sure didn't after he was dumped at a hoarder/breeder's home. The breeder was so nice to let us have and rescue Homer for free. Homer is about 7-years-old. He has Progressive Retinal Atrophy which is a genetic disorder that caused him to go blind over time. There is no further action needed other than annual checkups at a regular vet to check for glaucoma (same as any dog) We love Homer! He is the sweetest dog there ever was. He sees with his heart, not his eyes. You can find Homer wherever you are! He will follow you up into the bed (with pet steps) to cuddle. Homer is pretty smart and adaptive, so as long as you keep his environment and routine consistent (don't move furniture, keep food and water bowl in same place, etc.) he gets around just fine.
