About Ace

Ace is a 60lb 3 year old male German Shepherd. We think he is purebred but he does not have papers. We adopted him from a family member who was moving out the country and didn't want the dog to go through the quarantine process. He is fairly well trained, the previous owner sent him to boot camp. Sit, shake, lay down, 'go to your place', stay, wait are all commands that he responds to consistently. He is pretty good on a leash, responding to the wait command if he gets out in front or starts pulling on the leash. He bonded quickly with me (the dad/husband) as the pack leader and was passive towards me in terms of discipline and commands. We began to notice Ace exhibiting aggressive behaviors towards our young kids. It started with him just baring his teeth when one would pet him and led up to him nipping the kids. We had a trainer come out to observe and she recommended that we rehome him either with a family without kids or with experienced dog owners.
