About MIA

Adoption Fee: $550
Yorkie / Bichon Frise
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

MIA was saved with 31 other dogs from a breeding situation that was not too good. MIA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heart-worm/tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. She weighs around 4 pounds and is estimated to be around 8 years old. When we picked MIA up he had been living in a bedroom with many other dogs, none were fixed and were all very smelly, not house-trained and marked all the time. Being at the rescue with access to outdoors MIA has learnt to use pee-pads and enjoys going out on the back covered porch for fresh air, so the family must be prepared to work on house-training and understand this could take time. MIA although tiny is a very sweet happy-go-lucky girl who is very friendly and affectionate. Although around 8 years old he is still active and so needs a family that does get out on walks and is willing to take her on adventures and let her start enjoying life outside of a bedroom. MIA has had no training at all and so an understanding family is needed to work on not just house training, but leash training and basic obedience, she seems she wants to please so with time and patience it most likely won't be hard. MIA does need a proper grooming, she has been given a few baths whilst here at the rescue and did great, but she needs to be cared for properly and regular grooming's be done to be sure her coat stays in good condition and doesn't get matted which can be uncomfortable and painful. Grooming can be expensive, so please be sure this is an expense that you can afford and have time to take her for. Since MIA has come from an 'in-breeding' situation it is vital that his vet knows this and annual check ups, with blood work if advised be done, to rule out, or catch any potential conditions as she gets older. Due to her age, and size she will need to have a dental in the near future and so the family must be willing and able to do this. MIA has been great with all the other dogs and people he has met, we have not seen her with cats or livestock so cannot comment on how she will be around them. MIA is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the Adoption Info tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. https://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org/info/adoption ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.
