About Hope

Poodle / Lhasa Apso
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Hope is a dignified older girl that deserves far better than the deck she was handed in life. Hope is a very loving, low maintenance.. and SO sweet girl who just wants to snuggle and be a best friend to an individual or family that desires this pure love in their lives. Hope, at just about 10 - 11 years old...although it's so difficult to tell for certain. Age is generally determined by teeth..this sweet baby only has 3 due to the poor nutrition of her previous life. She's now on an excellent diet including a salmon oil supplement for her skin, eyes and general health. Whatever Hope's exact age, she is the sweetest, most loving baby around..perfect lap dog! (her foster's words, she's fallen in love with this gentle spirit). Hope is active, playful..loves the sunshine and backyard fun, gets around with absolutely no problem and loves to play with her foster's 4 month old puppy! Hope would be an absolutely perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that sweet lap dog and very best friend. She will be by your side to hug and love on...these are always the most important moments for Hope! She's a smaller girl and so portable and well-behaved that she can be a full-time best friend...accompanying her guardians everywhere a sweet, quiet and very lovable dog is welcome. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with very sweet and engaging temperaments (and as dignified as Hope) often come from inhumane, horrifying situations. Hope was a last-minute save for us...she came from a hoarding/breeding situation that was indescribable in it's filth and disregard for any needs of the dogs. Hope was terribly matted to the point of being unable to walk until being groomed for the first time by compassionate volunteers. Hope (and a number of others) had reportedly never been outside of a dark and dingy locked room in the back of a falling down house. Our rescuer reported back to us that she broke down in tears for this brave little girl who had been through the unimaginable in her life...and was finally free! She said she broke down again the first time Hope went outside into the sunshine. This disrespected girl turned her head to the sun to feel its warmth and we're positive we saw her cry with joy. Hope may be a bit shy initially as rehoming is challenging for any dog...but with love and nurturing, she will absolutely shine. We envision Hope with dog-crazy retirees (she would be overjoyed with time spent and being at the center of a loving family). Hope will be a full-time best friend, giving all of her love and loyalty to her person. A like-sized canine companion would be great as well. Hope would enjoy the companionship and cuddle times with a furry best friend. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside along neighborhood paths ...Hope would love nothing more than to share the experience. Her Texas foster loves daily walks and Hope comes along...so happily walking beside her foster. Hope is always up for these daily outings..fascinated by the activity around her. She breathes in the air...so happy to be in the sunshine. And then, maybe Hope's favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed close beside her favorite family members. As a Poodle/Lhasa Apso mix, Hope is a non-shedding dog that is considered an excellent choice for those who have allergy concerns. As is evident in her photos, Hope's coat will require some care and grooming. She will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement coupled with premium food is important for coat care and longevity) to keep her hair cottony- soft, very healthy and matt-free. Hope's physical found that she has mid-life cataracts which is often seen in dogs above age 8 or so. Don't tell Hope that she has cataracts..she has no problem negotiating any landscape and seems to see just fine for walks, play and in-house activities. Hope will be arriving on transport in Boulder over the weekend of February 1 - 3rd. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly, very calm and loving best friend, please fill out our application completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Hope please be sure to fill out the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Adoptapet, Rescueme and Petfinder don't provide enough information for our purposes. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
