URGENT - GENERAL PLEA SENT OUT ON 2/18. #A5342955 Leo is a charming 3-year-old chocolate-and-tan neutered male Labrador Retriever and Pit Bull mix whose former owners moved and left him at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on December 23rd because they hadn't made plans for him. Weighing 89 lbs, Leo won the hearts of our volunteers with his happy personality and wowed them with his abilities--he knows how to sit, lie down and shake when requested. His former guardians seem to have used a lot of treats in their training because this boy is seriously chubby and needs to lose at least 10+ lbs in his new home. A reasonable diet and regular exercise will help slim down in no time (it's much easier for dogs than for people!). With his easy-going personality and friendly attitude toward people and other dogs, Leo is a true go-anywhere dog, so it will be easy to get him involved in daily activities and help him walk those steps he needs to slim down. He already knows how to walk on leash (although he does pull when excited) and seems to be housebroken. The shelter is recommending Leo for households with older kids and adults just because of his size; we think he will make an awesome companion in any loving household looking for a cheerful, loving best friend.
