EXTREMELY URGENT - 48HR NOTICE GIVEN ON 2/21. #A4639308 Vandwilder is a frosted faced 14-year-old tan and white neutered male Pit Bull who came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center as an owner surrender on December 8th. This poor guy looks so confused and depressed. Vandwilder requires proper socialization and training. Note: The shelter does not provide slow introductions between dogs. Dogs are put together in a stressful environment and behavior team records how each dog behaves. Vandwilder is not available for public adoption. Evaluation notes dated 12/7: Vandwilder greeted the runner with a wiggly body, a fast tail wag, soft eyes, and relaxed ears. He was difficult to leash because he jumped on the kennel door excitedly. He pulled strongly when he first exited the kennel, but he settled quickly and began walking nicely. He was easy to collar. In the catch pen, his eyes were soft, his tail wagged quickly, his ears were back, and he pawed at the gate anxiously. He ran into the yard with a high tail and immediately charged one of the female dogs. He growled and lunged at her, but stopped immediately when the handler gave a verbal correction and an audible shake of the shake can. He acknowledged the correction by sitting down with his ears back, and making eye contact with the handler. He roamed the yard with a high wag, ears back, and an open mouth with his tongue out.
