About Rambo

German Shorthaired Pointer
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Rambo is a 2 year old male purebred German Short haired Pointer, about 60 pounds. Rambo came into rescue an emaciated mess with horrible poop! After much diagnosis, we were at a loss as to why he wasn't clearing up! Then, he passed a very lovely, red rubber ball (in several pieces!) and we all jumped for joy at finally having resolution to his problems! Needless to say, you can't leave him to his own with non-edible items! Rambo is a super cuddly, lovey, and goofy boy! He is happiest either sitting on the couch snuggling with his humans or going on long walks exploring things. He is a total love bug and rubs/leans all over his favorite people to show his affection. He plays great with his foster family's 3 year old female Australian cattle dog mix. They pal around all day and generally love being around each other. Rambo didn't know much in the way of commands when he went to his foster home, but in the last few weeks, he has become a completely different dog. He is much more calm now that he has a routine, and has learned his name, sit, lay down, go to bed, and stay. He is super smart and eager to please which is why he was able to learn things so quickly. He still has the occasional house accident, but his foster is still working on teaching him that he should do his business outside. He doesn't really like being left alone in a crate, as you can see from a few scabs that are healing on his face. However, his foster has found out that when left in the crate with a doggie friend, he calms down. All in all, Rambo is a wonderful dog and a total lover. He is extremely smart and eager to please. With the right family, structure, and training, he will be an amazing dog! He requires a house with a fenced yard and adopters familiar with GSP's and/or deep chested dogs. Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older, and always before being placed in their new homes. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at [email protected] or click on the CONTACT link on this page. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. If you live within a five-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
