TO BE KILLED 1/18/20 Please watch her video she is absolutely adorable just scared ! Please contact Kat 516457-3678 , the ACC will kill her tomorrow Saturday if a foster or adoptee is not found ! Lost in the streets of NYC, a gentle girl is finding the courage to hope for a new life. She's only a baby, not even a year old, and LIMA has found herself at the scary shelter. How she lost her way, and her family, is not known. But she was terrified when she was found, confused and frightened of this city so big that it dwarfed her tiny frame and tender spirit. If she is overwhelmed it is understandable, and when we look into her eyes and see her trying so hard to be brave and courageous in the face of having lost everything, our hearts break. She goes on walks with the volunteers, where she tentatively seeks out and smells new things on the sidewalk, the fences, and the gates. She looks up at her new friends as if to say 'it's ok, isn't it? I'll be ok, won't I?' Is she looking for her family? Is she hoping to catch the slightest whiff of a familiar fragrance, or hear a gentle voice she once knew and loved? LIMA is just a baby. And she is a baby that needs, desperately, a family to give her a quiet, loving, structured home - a soft place to land so she can find her center, and find her smile. She's stunning, she's gentle, she is, we know, a tender hearted spirit who would love to find love, cuddles and happiness with a special person or family. Will that be you? If you are an experienced foster or adopter in a home with no young children (kids over age 13 ok), please hurry and message our page or email us at [email protected] for assistance saving her life. MY MOVIES: Lima (3 https://youtu.be/m5oF9g4Hgi8 Lima 84859 I love my friend! https://youtu.be/HvVUbx5tRRs Lima 84859 I sit so nicely https://youtu.be/5RqMbqo_E4o LIMA, ID# 84859, 1 yr old, 50.6 lbs, Unaltered Female Brooklyn ACC, Large Mixed Breed, Brown / White Surrender Reason: Stray, Escaped from Precinct Shelter Assessment Rating: NEW HOPE ONLY No children (under 13) Medical Behavior Rating: Yellow INTAKE PROFILE - BASIC INFORMATION: Lima is an approx. 1 year old large mixed breed that was surrendered as a stray that was found running loose near the police station. INTAKE NOTES - DATE OF INTAKE, 12/27/19: Upon Intake, Counselor had finder place the leash over Lima's head which she was a little head shy. Counselor was able to scan for microchip and walk to the kennel with no issues. SHELTER ASSESSMENT SUMMARIES - DATE OF ASSESSMENT, 12/29/2019 Summary: In the assessment room, Lima approaches handlers and allows slow petting, taking treats. When a collar is brought near her, she freezes. INTAKE BEHAVIOR - Date of intake: 27-Dec-2019 Summary: Head shy, allowed handling MEDICAL BEHAVIOR - Date of initial: 29-Dec-2019 Summary: Tense, trembling ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Lima so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. At the care center, she displays a medium-high level of activity. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct her energy and enthusiasm. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: New Hope Only Behavior Asilomar TM - Treatable-Manageable Recommendations: No children (under 13), Place with a New Hope partner Recommendations comments: No children: Due to how uncomfortable Lima is currently with touch and novel stimuli, we feel that an adult-only home would be most beneficial at this time. Place with a New Hope partner: Lima is highly fearful at the care center, especially of having a collar put on her, freezing when one is brought near her after previously snapping when an attempt was made to put on her. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home. Potential challenges: Resource guarding, Handling/touch sensitivity, Fearful/potential for defensive aggression Potential challenges comments: Resource guarding: Lima is reported to have snapped at the person who found her over food. She should be left alone when eating. Please see handout on Resource Guarding. Handling/touch sensitivity: Lima is fearful with handling, especially when a collar is introduced, freezing at the sight of it and snapping when an attempt was made to put one on her. Please see handout on Handling/touch sensitivity.
