About Rocky

Pug
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Rocky is a dignified middle-aged gentleman that deserves far better than being turned into a high kill shelter for euthanasia. In his middle years, Rocky is a very loving, low maintenance and SO sweet guy who just wants to snuggle and be a best friend to an individual or family that desires this pure love in their lives. Rocky, at just about 7ish years old or so and 19 lbs (could use just a bit of weight loss..he's a typical chubby and irresistible Pug) would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that very sweet lap dog. He will be by your side to hug and love on...these are always the most important thing to Rocky! He's a smaller guy and so portable that he can be a full-time best friend...accompanying his guardians everywhere a smaller and very lovable dog is allowed. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these adorable dogs (what's cuter than a Pug?) with kind and engaging temperaments..and as dignified and sweet as Rocky end up in precarious situations. Rocky was a last-minute save for Farfel's Rescue...he would have been euthanized for space in a dismal New Mexico shelter if kind rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This small sweetheart (with no medical challenges) is just so awesome with many, many active and healthy remaining (these smaller breeds, with great nutrition and lots of love, can live to very ripe old ages) a life in which he can bring so much joy to a special, dog-crazy family. Rocky may be a bit shy initially as rehoming is challenging for any dog...but with love and nurturing, he will absolutely shine. We envision our sweet Rocky with either retirees (he would be overjoyed with time spent and being at the center of a loving family) or a younger family who works at home or would be able to take Rocky along to a dog-friendly workplace. A like-sized canine friend would be great as well. Rocky would enjoy the companionship and cuddle time with a furry best friend. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside along beautiful Colorado paths and trails, Rocky would love nothing more than to share the experience. His foster loves daily neighborhood walks and Rocky always comes along. He is overjoyed for this time together, fascinated by the activity around him. He breathes in the air, so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. And then, maybe his favorite part, it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed close beside his beloved family members. As a Pug, Rocky is a lightly shedding guy. He will shed far less and have a very healthy, cottony-soft coat with a commitment to periodic sudsy baths and brushing. Any family interested in adopting Rocky will need to commit to healthy coat care. He will require periodic grooming and great nutrition...a daily salmon oil supplement is an excellent choice for overall health and to keep Rocky's silky coat cottony- soft, very healthy and matt-free. Rocky will not be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Rocky's neuter and microchip following his arrival on transport in Colorado if one of our rescue vets is used. Rocky will be arriving on transport in Denver in late January (we'll update when the date is confirmed). Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful Rocky and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Rocky, please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog, and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
