About Batman

Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

This is my emergency foster dog, who would need gradual introduction to any adopters or longer-term fosterers. Because of that I'm forced to look for people within commuting distance of Ely, Cambridgeshire (UK), unless a very experienced person can offer him a home further away.. He is a medium-large former street dog, roughly 4 y.o., neutered, up to date with all vaccinations, and in good health. On his passport he is listed as 'mixed breed', but a lot of that mix seems to be Australian cattle dog. For anyone who might be interested - read the breed description, because he fits the temperament and characteristics pretty well. He is crate-trained, travels well in cars, doesn't seem to display separation anxiety, and sleeps like a log. He is a really bright spark, very quick learner, very food-motivated and eager to please. He is also likely to push boundaries, try his luck, and generally test any new owners. This is normal for the breed and, once he learns the rules of the household, he is pretty good at sticking to them. He is technically friendly with other dogs, but rather hyper and feisty, and will need to learn to interact in a calmer manner, especially around dogs who aren't keen on socialising. He is currently living with our two - a male and a female - and after a couple of scuffles (our male can be dog-aggressive) he learned to not be too pushy. He is not good with cats or small furies. He has failed two adoptions in the past, because of sudden handovers, resulting in bites within a few hours. He is fine with complete strangers, as long as he is with someone he trusts. He has the potential to make somebody a fantastic companion. I wish I could keep him myself, but with 3 cats and two of our own dogs, it's out of the question. He will need a home without cats or young kids, preferably experienced with herding breeds. If you've read that far, thank you.
