About Gemma Desi Memphis

Desi, Gemma and Memphis are bonded sisters who, due to a tragedy, lost their beloved dad. Their dad was part of the GetALong Dachshund Rescue family and we have been entrusted with finding them a wonderful loving home. Desi is a 10 year old beauty, while Gemma and Memphis are 12 years old. All 3 of these beauties each weigh about 18 pounds and need to lose a bit of weight. These gorgeous girls are very bonded and have lived their entire lives together being loved by their dad. They walk well on the leash and do well with other dogs. They have not been tested with children or kitties. Like most dachshunds they will bark and alert to strangers in their foster home and yard in Mississippi. Gemma is a playful girl and is the boss of the crowd. She and Memphis are confident and strong, while Desi is more cautious and watchful. They do not seem to suffer from separation anxiety. Always excited to see their foster mom when she walks in they door they will bark in excitement. Gemma would like to sleep in the big bed in her new home and Memphis and Desi are happy to sleep in their dog beds. The girls all enjoy a car ride and would love a home that would include them in their family lives. Gemma is a snuggle bug and loves to cuddle with her people and sisters. Memphis is inquisitive and likes to know what is happening in the house. Desi has the sweetest eyes and a beautiful shiny black coat. All 3 girls will snuggle together in the same dog bed or on a blanket. They are sisters in every way and truly love each other. The girls are housetrained but must be encouraged to go outside and need their person to go out with them to ensure the 'go' when put out for potty time. They are pee pad trained. Like all dachshunds they will need to be confident in their environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important. Memphis has some arthritis and does have a heart murmur and Desi takes phenobarbital daily to prevent seizures. All 3 girls have had dentals since they came into rescue and are healthy and happy!
