About Mama

Meet our special girl Mama. Mama is looking for a very special adopter as she is a very special dog. Mama came to us with severe neurological issues, which our vets believe may be as a result of trauma. Her head hangs low and she is unsteady on her feet with poor balance. Mama was an owner surrender to a local animal control and were told she was 14 years old, but we are not sure that is accurate as she seems younger to us. She currently weighs under 4 lbs. She needs over the counter eye lubricant applied to her eyes twice a day to keep her eyes moist, but that is really her only medical issue that requires daily management. She needs a home that will be able to keep her safe due to her neuro issues- so one without access to stairs or balconies that she could fall from. She does well with pottying when taken outside or using a potty pad, but is not 100% reliable- so a home with cleanable floors would be best. She is the sweetest girl ever- not a mean bone in her body. She loves to be held and would love someone who might like to carry her around in a sling. She gets along fine with other dogs, but she would need to be with dogs that leave her alone, as she is pretty fragile. Mama has been spayed, had her teeth cleaned, has seen a neurologist, current on distemper vaccine (vet didn't recommend rabies), microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm, tick diseases and fecal parasites. Mama's adoption donation of $100 helps cover the cost of her medical care. Application, reference checks, and home visit required. Adopters must live 1.5 hours driving distance from Romeoville, IL.
