About Muttley

Adoption Fee: $35
Rhodesian Ridgeback / Pit Bull
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

My name is Rebecca. I am desperately trying to find a more suitable home for one of my dogs. This is a small part of our story. Muttley is the dog we need to find a safe place for. We have 4 dogs. Pumpkin is a female GS about 8 years. We found her as a stray 7 years ago. Spade. Codey is a corgi 2.5 years. We got him as a puppy at 8 weeks. Neutered. Diog is a Rottweiler about 2.5 years. Adopted from a shelter 1.5 ago. Neutered Muttley is a rhodesian ridge and other breeds mixed mutt about 1 year. He was tied to a railing outside my husbands work. My husband was the only one he responded to so he brought him home. We have had him going on 5 months. Nurtured. We did introduce him slow over 3 days to the others. When we did let him into to main house he was crated at night and when no one was home. After about 2 weeks we did trust him enough to let him out during the day. He does sleep in the crate still. About 2 weeks ago Muttley viciously attacked Diog. Since then he had been crated again during the day. The attacks have since progressed and came to point where we had to move the crate back downstairs. For the past wmonth or so we have played musical dogs due to Muttley must now be kept away from all the other dogs. We called dog behaviorist Gwenevere Marx from Lehigh Valley Dog Training. She spent 4 hours working with and evaluating Muttley. When it was time bring Diog in and she saw exactly what happens, it was determined he should not be in our house. He is a clear danger to our other dogs and she was very concerned at some point he would turn on our 10 year old daughter. Her best case scenario was to get him somewhere that he can be worked with. I am absolutely heartbroken that it has come to this. I am doing my best find him a rescue rather than a shelter. If you can take him or lead me in a direction that will help I am willing to travel. Anything so he is safe. He loves people but cannot be with other dogs. He needs someone that has had patience and time to continue to work with him. We do love him but it is not safe for us to keep him. I'm working on getting a good picture. Hes very squirmy with loads of energy.
