HANDSOME MARBLE IS HOPING FOR A SECOND CHANCE (3 A volunteer writes: Marble (fka Ichabod Crane) and I met on a seasonally-appropriate-for-his-name mid-autumn afternoon. This gorgeous puppy-boy also bears a seasonally appropriate brindle coat; rich cocoa brown, with warm golden filigreed stripes, and a fine powdered sugar line from forehead to snoot. Marble seems housetrained, moves somewhat powerfully on the leash; is approachably sweet, but prefers slow and easy overtures with new friends, with his curiosity leading the way. This also applies to potential doggy pals. And our Marble is full of unexpected delights. We were hanging out in a pen, and figuring this youngster was a natural for fetch, I tossed a ball. He politely chased, sniffed, and I thought, 'maybe stuffed toys are his jam?' He briefly sat, then...BOOM...zoomed over to the ball, hither, yon, and beyond. He should never be forced to interact with new people and should be allowed to greet and initiate an interaction at his own pace. We are also recommending placement with a New Hope partner due to Marble's on-leash reactivity, which will need behavior modification and gentle guidance to address. Marble is otherwise Healthy. How is this dog around children?: Owner stated that he has not been around children in her care. How is this dog around other dogs?: Owner stated that he would hard bark, growl, and lunge at other dogs when he sees another dog. How is this dog around cats?: Owner stated that he has not been around cats. Resource guarding:: Owner stated that he is not bothered when someone tries to take away his food, treats, or toys. Owner stated that he is not bothered when being pushed/pulled off of furniture. Bite history:: No known bite history during time of intake. Housetrained:: Yes Energy level/descriptors:: High Other Notes:: Owner stated that he would bark when being held or restrained. Owner stated that he is not bothered when given a bath, being brushed, or having his nails trimmed. Owner stated that he would bark when someone unfamiliar approaches the home or the owner. Has this dog ever had any medical issues?: No Medical Notes: No Medical concerns. For a New Family to Know: Owner described Marble as being friendly, affectionate, playful, pushy, Excitable, and anxious. Owner stated that he loves belly rubs and he likes to go running and catching treats in mid air. Owner stated that when at home he would follow her around the home or liked to be in the same room as the owner. Owner stated that he likes to play with balls, chew toys/bones, ropes and kongs. Owner stated that he likes to tug and alert/bark when he hears noises near the home. Owner stated that he is mostly kept indoors and he would sleep in a crate in the living room. Owner stated that he was fed Purina smart blend dry food about 1-2 cups, twice a day. Owner stated that his favorite treats are pup-peroni. Owner stated that when he goes potty he usually goes on gravel/dirt and rarely has accidents in the home. Owner stated that he has been crate trained with a metal crate, owner stated that he is good for 8+ hours. Owner stated that he knows the commands sit, come, down, and stay.
