About Bucky

Our Featured Dog: Bucky! He is still looking for his forever home. It's not every day we get a Catahoula Leopard dog in the shelter. Did you know it's the only breed of dog to have historically originated in the state of Louisiana? Well, meet Bucky, a three-year-old Catahoula! Typical to the breed, once they know their place in the family unit, they are affectionate, loyal, and gentle. His previous owners said he loves snuggles and tummy rubs and they were always proud of him because he has the ability to take correction with proper direction. Because he has a lot of energy (his favorite pastime is to run), he has had a blast being part of our doggie play groups. He's a natural (see video in the Comments) at enjoying all types of dogs and often becomes a teacher to the young ones. Bucky has a clever ability to jump fences so he'll need to go to a home with a fence 6 feet or higher. Additionally, Bucky has one quirk (who doesn't have quirks, right?) and his is guarding his food. So, we need him to go to an adult-only household with someone who is willing to guide him through this. Bucky just needs that person who will go an extra mile for him.
