About Lea

Thank you! She should be like 4 years now, she's spayed, on heartworm preventative, guessed to be Rhodesian Ridgeback/ Black mouth cur mix. She's an indoor dog, but she loves being outside with my other dog or me. She has tons of energy and a normal walk won't get her tired. She loves running and jumping, preferably with other dogs, but she is a very annoying player, she will do everything to get the other dogs attention and get him to chase her. She'll nip on their butts or bark in their faces. So I think a playmate would be amazing for her, but he has to be tolerant of her playstyle or learn to communicate with her when it's too much. My little dog will let her know when she's being too much by growling etc and she'll stop eventually. She's good with every cat I've introduced to her, however she does need a 1-2 weeks introduction phase, where you tell her if she's crossing boundaries. She also loves any other big animals (horses, donkeys, cows) but she does have a preydrive and will kill chickens etc. She loves cuddles and once you start petting her she won't let you stop. Now to the difficult part, she is very very shy and afraid of strangers. If you walk her and there's people she won't do anything but as soon as it seems that somebody's approaching her (only one person walking into her direction, person trying to pet her etc.) her first reaction is to grow and snap. She doesn't go for a warning anymore, since snapping at people always worked for her. Shes afraid of all people, from toddler to grandma. Men and black people are her worst enemy, but as you see looking at Pablo she can get used to that as well. I definitely don't think she should go into a family with children. Other than that, she's a total sweetheart to her humans, and she's been a favorite in the shelter we got her from as well as the doggy daycare she went to since Pablo was deployed. She's also very much motivated by food (and she will find anything edible that's not secured), and learns very quickly with food. She knows how to sit, lay, stay, and shake paw. She loves playing in water.
