Winston could be that dream come true pup for active retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very engaging companion. He would be overjoyed with the time and attention that retired families often put into their dogs. We feel that Winston would also do well with younger families with very gentle kids who love dogs and enjoy the fun and companionship that a sweet pup brings to a home. Winston is such a perfect choice for a family. He loves children and adults as well as other dogs and will thrive in a home that includes him in family adventures. Winston is a stunning purebred Shih Tzu with that sweet and silly personality that ShihTzu lovers find so lovable. At just about 2ish or so and 14 lbs, Winston has all the fun and loving personality traits that endear a family to a dog. Winston is the perfect size to enjoy outdoor fun... hiking, long neighborhood walks (Winston is a very social guy) and enjoying games in the yard or park would speak to this fun-loving guy. He's also very portable to take along on adventures and fun everywhere a sweet and well-behaved dog is welcome. Winston has the perfect amount of energy for his age..he's active and playful and then at day's end, he's the first to snuggle down next to his favorite people for hugs and sleep. Winston loves playing and is entertaining in his silly antics, young energy and the huge love he wants to show to all who are kind to him. While Winston may initially be a bit uncertain, he's a very happy and engaging guy who loves life. If he's given just a second (a loving belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) he is happy to come closer for a welcome hug. Before you know it, Winston is gently loving you up to let you know the strength of his feelings. The Texas rescuers recognized all of the wonderful qualities of this very sweet guy. They knew that Colorado was a perfect place for Winston. They were positive that there was a home near the Rocky Mountains that would adore this beautiful dog and want to make him a permanent member of their dog-crazy family. Once Winston is given the gift of great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is perfect) his coat will become the cottony-soft hair that speaks of good health. As is evident in his photo, Winston had a very hard life prior to his rescue. It's clear that he most likely had never experienced the joy of a sudsy bath or the ability to move without deep matts pulling at his sensitive skin. It became the very first goal of Winston's rescuers to bathe him and shave the huge matts away. While he's looks silly now, his non-shedding hair will grow back in gorgeous and in line with his breed. Winston would do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be backyard play, a visit with friends, a car ride or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Winston's joy at being with his people. Farfel's isn't open to a forever home for Winston where everyone spends their days working full-time hours outside of the home....we'd like him to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. A family that is retired, works part-time, from a home office or a pet-friendly workplace would be an excellent match for Winston. Winston is arriving on transport in Denver on Wednesday 1/15/20.
