Meet Rex - isn't he handsome? Pulled at the last minute and saved from euthanasia at a shelter in California, he currently lives with his foster mom as the only dog while working through distrust-driven resource guarding. Rex has been introduced to manners and boundaries and with structure has gained so much confidence in the past few months. Rex knows basic obedience commands, is fully house trained, and is crate trained. He is learning that humans can be consistent, safe and trusted after previous years of abuse (assumed). Weighing in at 67lbs, the vet has said Rex is likely 8-9 years old and is full of life. He enjoyes walks, chewing and fetching a kong toy. He will also calm down and enjoy lazy mornings or quiet evenings. Rex should not be left unsupervised with small dogs or cats. He has been around other big dogs (GSDs) and while he would relax, because of the history of resource guarding would be most successful as the only dog or with very specific limitations and items of value available (think like a dragon hords gold, thats what Rex does with anything he decides has value). He is a diamond in the rough but has many snuggles and loyalty left to give.
