About Coda

Coda is a friendly, loving dog. I selected the two breeds based on looks (black mouth cur) and behavior (cattle dog). His shoulder height is approximately 20' and he weighs approximately 50 pounds. He is not aggressive towards other dogs, cats, or humans. He is a sociable boy, affectionate, and well-behaved. He is very smart and eager to please. He responds very well to 'wait' and 'sit' and most of the time to 'come'. He likes to be outside a lot with his nose into the wind. He's very loving and energetic. He belonged to my son who can no longer provide him with a stable home. Coda is a very curious dog and needs a securely fenced yard. He has been in the company of the other dog in the photo (Nova, a purebred Dogue de Bordeaux) since he was about 1 year old and, so, would be best if they could be adopted together. Otherwise, he would be better suited to a household with somebody who enjoys the outdoors and going on walks/hikes/to the beach, etc. He loves to chase a ball and will toss it in the air for himself. A kitten was also raised in his company and they would cuddle up together. Nova is about 6-7 years old and weighs approximately 90 pounds. He's 24' tall at the shoulders. Nova is well-behaved but could use some more reinforcement on commands like 'come' and 'stay', but he responds well to 'wait' and 'sit'. He likes the company of people and I'd say he prefers to be indoors in the company of people or another dog. He would be an excellent companion for somebody that doesn't expect him to go on long hikes or jogging, but he thoroughly enjoys a walk every day. He wouldn't mind being on a pillow by a fire while Coda is out on a ranch, but they are both accustomed to being outdoors and are not destructive in a yard. They are both healthy and current on their rabies vaccinations (to the point that they would not have to be quarantined in Hawaii).
