About Acorn

Adoption Fee: $250
Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

This cute blue girl is Acorn, a 1 year old, 30 pounds Australian Cattledog. Acorn is looking for an active home who knows the breed. A walk a day won't do it for this girl. She is ready for adventure. Acorn is good on leash, good in the car, and will make a wonderful hiking or running buddy. She knows her basics, too, like sit, off, and come when called. She is working on learning down. Acorn is house and dog door trained. She is also crate trained. Acorn is shy when meeting people. She prefers a polite introduction. As for kids, she is mouthy and has a lot of herding drive. Kids under Junior high school age are not a fit for her. Acorn is a typical Cattledog with other dogs. Her herding drive is too strong for small dogs and cats. Large dogs look like cows to herd. Dogs who don't mind her nipping at their heels can become good play buddies. She loves the shepherd mix at her foster home, but the huskies found Acorn to be irritating. Acorn has lots of herding drive. She would be fantastic for someone who wants to participate in herding trials. She would be a fantastic frisbee dog. She is incredibly agile. Of course, she also is willing to herd the vacuum. She loves loves loves fetching. Acorn ideally needs a home that knows this breed. She will appreciate a home that does something with all of this amazing herding drive she has. She needs a home that isn't too busy and active, since that stirs up her urge to nip at heels...even yours. For someone who does this, and goes slow with introductions, she is an amazing dog who will even be cuddly and wiggly with her person. Acorn is ready to meet potential adopters. Acorn is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She is available for a meeting and adoption in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required.
