About Korg

American Staffordshire Terrier / Boxer
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Korg is not quite 2 years old yet and it shows from time-to-time. He is not a dog that can be trusted out of a cage when you're not home or leave unattended for long periods of time. He gets bored easy! He is pretty much full grown though at just shy of 50 lbs, is a short-haired golden brown brindle color, and is fairly muscular. He loves to play, run, jump, wag his tail, and chew his bones. He is probably one of the happiest dogs I've ever had, which can also be a curse. His tail is fairly long and if we had gotten him at an earlier age, I would have had it docked. I never used to be a fan of docking a dog's tail, but after Korg, I started to. As I said, he is a happy dog and loves to bring you his bone and show you just how proud he is of it. In other words, his tail wags constantly and can really hurt if it hits you just right. He is absolutely great with humans, kids included. He just must lick you if given the opportunity and wants to be everyone's friend. He is a good protector of the home and does fairly well with being able to identify what is a possible threat versus friend based on how you interact with the person. When a service man comes to the house, I have to lock up my 2 labs in their cage, but can leave him out with no problems. He just has to be as close to you as possible if he can. He loves to snuggle up next to you to sleep. That being said, I must caution you on his temperament with other animals. We have 2 other dogs, a cat, and 8 chickens, all of which he lives with in harmony, though there was an incident with the chickens very early on. However, he is not so welcoming to other animals that don't belong and takes some time getting used to new ones. Korg is also probably the most dominant dog I've ever had. If another dog has anything he wants, no matter how much they growl at him, he'll just take it or make it extremely uncomfortable for them until they give it up. The size of the dog doesn't matter either. I've watched him do it to my parents 125 lb German Shepards without any fear on more than one occasion. If another dog doesn't give up a spot he wants, he will physically lay on them until they move. Sort of funny when you watch it, but also not so much at the same time. He is housebroken, but if you get him really excited when he hasn't gone out for awhile, he will start to dribble. He is definitely a jumper. I have a fenced backyard that's about 4 FT high and he scales that with ease, so a taller fence will be needed. I really don't want to find a new home for him, because you can just tell how much he loves his people. Unfortunately, our lifestyle is just suited for him. I will not give him up to just anyone. The home that we find for him must provide the same love as we do.
