About Daisy

Adoption Fee: $175
Rottweiler / Lab
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Daisy has a stranger than fiction story with her happy ending waiting to be provided by you! She was brought to the Shelter by a woman who said she had found 3 stray dogs that she wanted to turn in. One of the 3, Daisy, was microchipped. In fact, she had been adopted from the same Maricopa County Shelter and her record showed that she was born on April 1, 2011, spayed as an 8 week old puppy, listed as a Black and Tan Labrador Retriever mix, microchipped and adopted to the same woman that was now turning her in as a stray over 6 years later!!! Poor Daisy had never been trained to walk on a leash and was so frightened that she would go into attack mode when anyone attempted to walk her. Tuffie's rescued her right before she was to be euthanized. At the Rescue, Daisy would come forward for treats and seemed to enjoy people, but she would not allow herself to be handled much at all. All of the volunteers loved her and tried to draw her out, but no one had much success. We all felt that if we could just break through to her, she would be a marshmallow! Finally we were able to find the perfect professional trainer to work with her. Sure enough, being with a competent trainer and in a well balanced pack worked wonders on Daisy and she is the marshmallow that we all knew she could be! Daisy is now 8 plus years young, 50# and ready to live a great rest of her life with a special person or family! Because of her previous history, an adult home or one with older, pet savvy kids would be best. As Daisy has likely always lived with other dogs and gains confidence from them, another canine her size or larger is ideal, but she may be okay as your one and only, too. She enjoys going on walks and does equally well with men and women and she has been coming up to get pets. Daisy began to limp a little behind and it turns out that she has some damage to one hip. At the trainer's home, she was very fearful of coming inside and we surmised that she was physically kicked out of the house at some point. (She is completely housebroken, uses a doggy door and has NEVER had an accident in the house!). With supplements and carprofen (an inexpensive pain killer), she has been absolutely fine. Overall, a new owner or owners should be patient with Daisy as she still acts fearful in many ways, but you will be richly rewarded seeing the positive changes as she bonds and trusts you more and more each day! Please call or text Diane at 925-209-6480 to meet the amazing Miss Daisy!
