About Beau

Beau or Bo is a fabulous foster dog. He learns quickly and wants to please. He's house broken, sits and stays on command, comes on command and is learning to play fetch, he knows down but doesn't really like following that command. He responds very well to positive reinforcement and treats. He's a big goofy dog that acts like his tiny foster siblings curling up on your lap or curling up next to you in bed. I suspect some abuse in his earlier life because when he's been naughty and I say 'bad dog' he tucks his tail, lowers his head and heads down stairs for the door....that doesn't last long and next thing you know he's up and in your lap. I have him in a one bedroom town home and he's a great fit. The neighbors are impressed that he isn't much of a barker. He needs a daily walk or two but would probably do better with a daily run. I wish I had a fenced in yard for him, he'd love it but he's definitely not an outside dog,he needs to be around his humans and will bark continuously until he gets in. He does have separation anxiety, I generally leave him with a chew toy to help with it and keep my shoes on lock down. He takes awhile to get adjusted to a new environment, so don't be surprised if it takes a few weeks for him to settle in and seem to want to live with you. Once he settles in and trusts you you'll be the center of his attention. He generally comes when called but is definitely a scent hound and if not on a leash will run off in search of that tantalizing smell and wander home later. If your interested in him we can meet in a public place. If you want him you'll have to fill out all adoption paperwork with the Ocean Spring animal shelter before taking him home. They are also the ones that get the adoption fee.
