About Libi

Adoption Fee: $150
German Shepherd / Australian Kelpie
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Foster location: Boise, ID Breed: German Shepherd Mix (possible Kelpie Mix) Age: 8 months Adoption Fee: $150.00 Adoption Application: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ Libi is a very special girl who found herself in a local shelter it quickly became apparent to them that Libi was a very special puppy who needed a rescue who could take on her medical issues. Fuzzy Pawz stepped up and quickly took her to specialists to see what could be done for her. This girl is all puppy! Libi loves to do typical puppy things like zoom around the house and get into puppy trouble. The good news and the bad news is that Libi does not know that she is sick. Libi (pronounced Libby- meaning Heart in Hebrew) has a series of heart complications that are unfortunately terminal. She has a grade 5/6 heart murmur, a hole in her heart that goes between the chambers, a shrunken heart valve and a malformed heart chamber. These issues will require daily medication to help prolong her life. She is not a candidate for surgery and would be at great risk any time she goes under anesthesia. Libi is likely to live another 2 to 3 years. Having an owner who will put in the time and dedication to give her the best life possible and provide her any medical care that she would need as her heart condition progresses. This includes meeting with a cardiologist to keep track of her heart health. Because Libi does not know that she is sick, she does not regulate her own activity and her new owner will need to careful about her excitement levels. Libi should not be allowed to run off leash, even in the back yard, for any prolonged amount of time. Since Libi is a puppy and energy management is so important with puppies, it is recommend to take controlled walks on a regular basis and provide her with a lot of enrichment activities. Libi gets along well with dogs and cats but can get very excited when around other animals. When making introductions it is important to make sure she does not work herself up too much for her own health and the sanity of the other animal. If you have another dog in the home they would need to be patient as Libi is a whole lot of puppy. Although Libi likes cats they aren't always the biggest fan of her and her bouncing, it is important to monitor their relationship to make sure your cat isn't stressed out and Libi remains scratch free. Despite her health issues Libi is the sweetest little girl out there! She loves, loves, loves everyone she meets. She thinks she is a tiny lap dog and wants to be with her people doing whatever they are doing. She would do best with someone who can spend a lot of time with her and a household that doesn't have kids under 5. If you are looking for an amazing dog who will be the best friend you have ever had even if it is only for a short time then Libi is the girl for you!
