About Holly

We have no idea why Holly and her mate Bea have yet to find their forever home. They have been waiting for nearly 400 days! Holly and Bea are a bonded pair and will need to be adopted together. Both dogs will make for great family companions. Holly and Bea didn't have a great start to life. They were surrendered to Animal Control when their neighbor threatened to shoot them for wandering on his property. Property lines are something dogs don't understand and both girls were turned into Animal Control where they could have been put down. A fence would have prevented Holly and Bea from being turned in. Lucky for us, we were able to pull them and keep them safe until we could find them a loving forever home. Holly is a young plot hound mix. She's about 2.7 years old and weighs 40 pounds. She is a delightful girl with an easy-going demeanor. She loves being with people and loves playing with her mate Holly in the yard when it's their chance to go out. Holly is good with other dogs, but she does chase small animals, like squirrels and would probably do the same for cats. A fence and a yard for Holly and Bea is a must. Holly is generally calm, but she has a lot of energy and loves to run and play and needs the ability to do both. An active family that makes Holly a part of their activities would help ensure this terrific dog blossoms. The year in the kennel is taking its toll on the girls. They are so sweet and so affectionate. They do great with crowds and often go to local events. They ride well in a car and walk great on leashes. Yet no one has taken an interest. In this case having two dogs is really better than just one. They are well-mannered and keep each other company. We hope that their new family comes for them. They have so much love to give and will make for a welcome addition to any family. Come meet them. You might perhaps fall in love. Holly is spayed, micro-chipped and fully vetted. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
