About McKenna

*** ADOPTION PENDING *** McKenna is a 1.5 year old 25 lb. Shepherd/Smooth Fox Terrier mix is absolutely delicious! With her h-u-u-ge ears and beautiful eyes she tosses her toys around to catch and fling again with a joyous abandon that is silly and delightful. McKenna plays with her foster siblings inside and outside and enjoys trotting around the yard on her own or with them. She loves being talked to and even when her foster picks up the ringing phone, she cocks her head with intrigue. She is a fabulous companion who lays quietly by your side while you work, so she is great for someone who works from home and wouldn't want to be left alone all day. McKenna seems to have an innate love for people and is always enthusiastic to see her family. If you're new to her, she'll duck or take a step back when you first reach out to pet her, but because she really loves all that we have to offer she will plop a paw on you urging you to pet her, crawl into your lap on the couch for pets, and sleep in the crook of your leg in bed (her foster's personal favorite). With their natural more sudden movements, the hands of kids under 12 might seem like a toy to be grabbed, so teenagers and older kids are recommended. Small critters, including cats might be risky given her zeal in tossing squeaking toys around. McKenna is house trained, walks well on a leash, sleeps well through the night (happy to wake early or sleep in with you) and comes when called. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care, so please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested prior to submitting. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health and safety of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering, and microchipping before transporting our dogs. Then, we provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you.
