About Rocco

Rocco is a sweet, lovable, giant goober of a fellow with an endearing needy side. He would love to be a lap dog despite weighing in at 104lbs. His interests include naps, more naps, long naps, short naps, and being close to wherever you might be regardless of convenience (including the bathroom). He is a charming typically lower energy mastiff that would be satisfied with short walks.He currently lives with a big hound and does well with most dogs. Rocco is a very loved member of our family. It is a devastating decision to re-home this beautiful boy. Our decision comes after the addition of twins to our family. The babies have now just turned one and the increase of activity and noise level has put Rocco in great distress. He has always been a gentle soul easily thrown by new people, objects, and activity. He struggles with guarding food or objects that can be unpredictable at time. He would do best in a home with an experienced handler that is very tuned into his body language, and has the time and energy to work on training his quirks. Rocco would love a quiet easy going environment where he is an integrated member of the family. If Rocco's new home were to include kids, I'd recommend the age be of at least 16. Rocco also struggles with barriers like fences or gates. We think this reactivity has increased as he is gated away from the babies and dog anxious family members. Our hope is that this would be resolved if he's in a situation where he does not need to be separated. He generally alarm barks and becomes anxious. Our love for Rocco makes us want to give him his best life. We have concluded that our time and life circumstances are not a healthy situation for this boy. We hope to find somebody that can give this guy the time he needs to be the good loving dog we know him to be. If you have interest, please let me know if you'd like to talk in more specifics.
