About Phoebe

Phoebe is a 12-year-old sweetheart, who found herself in a shelter when her former family no longer wanted her. Although she had been with them her entire life, they never got her vaccinated or spayed, nor did they take care of her teeth or mammary tumors. In a way, being turned over to a shelter was a blessing for Phoebe. Now all of her vetting has been done (including dental work and tumor removal), and she is ready for her new life and family! Phoebe has one lingering issue from her past; her left front ankle appears to have been injured at some point, and she carries inflammation in it and will limp from time to time. She is currently on anti-inflammatory meds to help with that. Even with this old injury, this 10-lb. Rat Terrier is agile and quick and keeps up with everyone else in her foster home. Phoebe is friendly to everyone she meets-adults, children, dogs, and cats. She is a Velcro dog, who will want to be near you all the time. She follows her foster mom closely while they walk around in the big yards at her foster home. All the other dogs are running and playing, but Phoebe is watching her foster mom for her next move. In fact, her only 'bad' trait is that she will bark and whine if she can't get to you. For this reason, she probably wouldn't be a good match for someone who lives in an apartment and who might have to leave her alone. When she is with you, however, she is content and quiet. Phoebe is completely house-trained, dog-door savvy, and crate trained. She walks fine on a leash and rides well in a car, except for whining because she wants to sit in your lap.
