About Powder

Needing to rehome our dog. He is a Maltese poodle mix but his hair is more like a terrier. He has been neutered and microchipped. We adopted him as a puppy and tried to give him the necessary training to succeed in our family but have been unsuccessful. Due to busy schedules we've been unable to get him potty trained. We decided it would be better to let him go to a home where he can get the training he needs. He is a very loving dog and always wants to be sitting on or near you if you sit down. He is aggressive towards strangers and will bark anytime the doorbell rings. When a stranger comes in the home he will bark at them aggressively for a few minutes and then will calm down once he realizes the stranger is not a threat. He does not get along well with other dogs. We've never allowed him to mingle with smaller dogs for fear he might attack them. But, we have had him around larger dogs. He will bark at them aggressively until he realizes they are much bigger than him then he backs away. He does not do well with children that are not in the family. He will snap at people that try to pet him unless he feels comfortable around them. For this reason, he would be better in a home of a retired couple or family that has older children. He's a very loving dog toward his owners. He just does not do well with strangers and younger children. He is only high energy when you first come home and around strangers. Otherwise, he will sleep all day on your lap or laying next to you.
