The rescue can arrange for transport and will provide vetting. Poor Fluffy was found tied to a tree and left in the pouring rain and soaked. Local Animal Control stepped in and confiscated him from the owner who said he was about 9 years old. They have since bathed him and shaved off some of his matting which was bad, which they said 'he allowed handling pretty well'. In fact, the rescue coordinator at the shelter said, 'I love this old man' because he is so sweet. He weighs 57 lbs and deserves a loving home. The shelter said, 'Besides the typical old dog things, cataracts (he can still see things, probably shadows - really good at dodging the office cat's swats), hearing is not so good, walks slow probably from arthritis, but no major health issues that we have noticed. Has been in the office with our office cats and doesn't seem to mind them at all. He is dog friendly - large and small. He is unaltered. ' He would likely benefit from some meds for arthritis but the shelter has no vet on site.
