About TINKERBELLA

Adoption Fee: $550
Chihuahua
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

TINKERBELLA was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine TINKERBELLA is spayed, core vaccines, rabies, heart-worm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 5 December 2015 and at the time of rescue in December 2019 weighed around 10 pounds. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. TINKERBELLA arrived at the rescue on Thursday, 19th December and was so skinny and scared it was heartbreaking. She has no hair on her tail and it was red and raw around the base which was most likely caused by flea dermatitis. She has been to the vets since she was nibbling at it and at one point we were considering amputation, however, thankfully with antibiotics, pain meds and a temporary cone it has healed. Her skin is thick and black and she will most likely never regrow hair on her tail and it would need to be watched for any broken skin, but all in all her tail is now good. Tinkerbella has also gained some very much needed weight, but she still has some pounds to gain - due to her being like a skeleton her stomach will have considerably shrunk so weight gain is a slow process, but as with her tail she is doing good and is a lot happier all round. Tinkerbella is ok with other dogs, but gets a little over-whelmed with a lot of running around so she would be better in a quieter home, but would be ok with other dogs as long as they weren't the type to jump and want he to play - she really needs a laid back home that will give her all the love she deserves, take her for nice walks, adventures, trips in the car and just basically spoil her to make up for the horrible life she has clearly had before we saved her. Tinkerbella does use pee-pads, she doesn't really like going outside as there are a lot of dogs charging around and of course it is very cold, I did put a sweater on her when she first arrived but the next day she didn't have it on, so something she wasn't too happy about. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO COMMENT HOW SHE WILL BE AROUND CATS OR LIVESTOCK. TINKERBELLA is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada.
