Hi DAWG friends. I'm really hoping you might be able to help us out. Back in May we adopted a senior dog (Leo) from a coworker that needed to move him out of his ex's house but couldn't take him themselves. We were told he was good with other dogs. Well, today was the 3rd time that he's gone after our younger dog. The other two were when they were outside together, so I'm not entirely sure the circumstances leading to it, but today Leo snapped when our other dog merely walked by his food bowl that was nearly empty after he was done. It was bad. I couldn't get them broken up for almost 10 minutes. And when my other dog would try to get away Leo continued to be aggressive. I ended up with 3 bites and a sprained wrist trying to separate them. We need to find Leo a new home. One without other dogs. We aren't sure of his home life before us and is initially scared of men. He was over weight and has rear hip issues since we got him, but now his weight is good. We've recently started giving him hemp powder on his food and have noticed a marked improvement in his mobility in his rear. He is such a good boy, good with cats and children (he sleeps with my boys 4 and 9 years old), he just really needs a home where he can be the only dog. We obviously know the difficulty in this situation and please, don't with the guilt trip that we've received from other rescues about how cruel it is to rehome a senior dog. We are extremely heartbroken over this. But we know that forcing a solitary life on him when there are 2 other dogs in the house just isn't fair to him.
