Always read entire post please. If you are replying to a post on a rescue site- Please tell us about your family, activities, other animals and your expectations of your pet and what they can expect from you and the city in which you live. Roy Quigley a presumed Cattle dog mix is 4yr old boy, at that perfect size of ~35lbs. He is a sweet, lovable, little scamp. He craves lots of attention from his person and will reciprocate in kind. While he has lived with dogs, cats, and livestock, he can be competitive with other pets for attention-not aggressive, just pushy--so will probably do best in just a 'you and me' household. He will look at you adoringly and an eagerness to please. Because Roy is so focused on his human , he is very trainable. His foster mom has been working with him on some obedience stuff, and is happy to fill in his new family on what has worked. He has good potty manners and doing well on a leash. When going for walks, quiet sidewalks with minimal traffic noise are encouraged as he can be a bit nervous with that kind of commotion. He is also seeking an adult only home. Roy does need a little work on things such as: counter surfing, chewing odd items out of place on the floor like dental floss containers and newspapers. Things like this put a great big smile on his face. Overall- he is delightful and doing well with his female retired foster mom. A home of similar energy and attention is encouraged. Roy is currently being treated for Heartworm Disease. Please ask staff for more details. You are encouraged to make every effort to visit the shelter for a meet and greet. Staff available to assist. You can walk on the trails and interact in the play yards. Unless otherwise noted, we can not say if a dog does well with cats, livestock or chickens or with the dogs you may already have in your home or at dog parks. So please, if you have a dog, please arrange to bring for a meet and greet. Current vaccinations, spayed or neutered and micro chipped. Available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter 1420 Brookside Blvd. Grants Pass, across from the Grants Pass Airport. You are encouraged to call the shelter at 541 474-5458. When calling please press option 0. Hours open to the public 10 am - 4 pm every day except Sunday and posted holidays. Up to date on shots, spayed or neutered and micro chipped.
